Apply False Eyelashes Like a Pro

By Tiffany Moore

Who wouldn't want long, thick, foxy, flirty eyelashes like Megan Fox's? If nature is cruel to you, cheat. Fake eyelashes glam up your sparse, stubby and pale lashes instantly. False lashes enhance your eyes, making them look bigger, and really pop. But, applying false eyelashes can be really tricky. So learn these tips on how to wear fake eyelashes before you blink and wink. No one will ever guess your lashes aren't real!

How to put on false eyelashes?
Measure the length of the fake eyelashes on your eyes without glue. More often than not, the false lashes are too long so you need to trim them to fit the width of your lash line.

Make sure you don't cut the length too short; you can always trim it later. The fake eyelashes should be longer towards the outer corner of your eye, and the length should vary slightly.

Apply a thin layer of glue from edge to edge on the stem of the false lashes. Let it air dry or wait awhile until the glue starts to set. It sticks better and won't move as much on your eye. You want also be make sure that your eyelids are free of any oil.

With your fingers or tweezers, apply the fake lashes very close to your natural lash line, starting from outer corner of your eye and then press it lightly onto the inner corner. Press from end to end and hold until the glue dries, about 30-60 seconds.

Do I need to apply mascara after I put on fake eyelashes?
If your eyelashes are pointing downwards, you may need to curl your eyelashes with a curler before you wear the false lashes.

Apply mascara while pressing your finger behind the fake eyelashes so that it will bond with your natural lashes. You can skip the mascara if your real eyelashes are curly.

Which one goes first? The eyeliner or false lashes?
Apply black eyeliner before you stick on the fake eyelashes. It's easier to handle and gives a clean natural finish. Touch up by filling any gaps between the false lashes and your natural lash line again.

Do fake eyelashes make me feel uncomfortable?
As long as you don't apply the false lashes too near to the inner comer of your eyes, it should be comfortable and won't block your vision.

Also, go easy on the glue so that it doesn't build up on the false eyelashes or clump up your real lashes and leak into the eye.

How to remove fake eyelashes correctly without pulling off my real eyelashes?
To remove the false lashes properly, wet a cotton pad with warm water and hold it over the lashes to loosen the glue.

If you encounter stubborn lashes, petroleum jelly, olive oil or virgin coconut oil has excellent glue loosening effect. Remember, don't remove it by tugging.

Can I reuse the fake eyelashes?
Yes. You can reuse your fake eye lashes if you maintain them and keep them clean at all times. After each wear, soak them in a bit of warm, soapy water (or eyelash removal solution) to remove the glue, and dust particles.

Use tweezers to pull off the glue particles. Dry them and store them back in their original container.

How to choose a pair of suitable false eyelashes?
You can find fake eyelashes in various colors, sizes, and styles – from low-key natural ones to dramatic full-on come-to-bed styles.

If you want a natural daytime look, choose eyelashes that aren't very heavy in volume or length. For fancy parties, you may want to go for fake eyelashes with rhinestones, feathers, sequins, etc.

Make your eyes beautiful and alluring with fake eyelashes. False lashes is the best way to get long, curly, sexy lashes that you have always dreamed of.
