Online surveys are a part of a company's market research program. Businesses need market research done so they can know what to sell, when to sell, and who to sell. Gathering information about their target market would give them an edge over their competitors. Companies employ market research specialists to conduct their market survey who then conduct online surveys which they pay consumers like you and I to answer. These companies need consumers' opinion. You can make anywhere between $1 to $75 per survey even at home. All you need to do is to register yourself with reputable survey companies and spend some time filling out questionnaires.

Surveys can cover a variety of topics. Some will not apply to you and your lifestyle, and hence you will not be accepted to participate in such surveys. You will be asked to take surveys based on your age, sex, annual income, education, and other information. However, most people will qualify for enough surveys to make decent amount of extra cash.

With the number of get paid survey sites escalating, it can be quite tricky to tell which of them are legitimate and which of them are nothing but scams. To protect yourself from online survey scams, you should do some research before you jump into a “get paid for doing surveys” job. If a website asks you for a certain amount of money before you can get paid doing surveys, I advise you to think twice. Do not forget your objective is to get paid to answer surveys and not to pay to get paid. Also, be aware that there are some companies that sell your personal information to other companies. Therefore, make sure they have contact detail on their website and that they have been in business for at least 18 months. Be wary of over inflated testimonials – making $8000 a month is not going to happen.

There are people who do not encourage paid online surveys. More often than not, they have not been consistent in their work and gave up easily. They then tell you that paid online surveys do not work. However, you must remember that many paid survey sites pay per survey. So the logic is, you need to do more to earn more. Answering paid surveys require time and if you spend enough time on them, you will be able to make easy money.

You must keep in mind that you can't pay your monthly mortgage just by doing online surveys but if you are looking for an easy way to earn some extra pocket money at home, then this might just work for you.
