Will eating fruits make me lose weight? I am thinking of going on a all-

Hi Annie,
Pineapples are believed to help you lose weight because the fruit contains an enzyme called bromelain, which speeds up digestion of proteins and fats, as well as reduces muscle and tissue inflammation.
In addition, the Vitamin B1 (Thiamine) found in pineapples helps properly metabolize the carbs you eat, thereby shifting those excess pounds easily without damaging your health.
To the best of my knowledge, there has been no solid scientific evidence to support the relationship between pineapples and weight loss yet. However, you can use pineapples as an effective cleansing agent to get rid of impurities and toxins that have accumulated within your body's digestive system. Having a clean digestion means better digestion, less stored fat, less bloating and less cravings for unhealthy food.
Fruits, like vegetables, are chock full of different Vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and phytochemicals, all of which are good for your health in many ways. Eating fruits regularly in controlled moderation can lower your risks of chronic diseases such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes and even some cancers.
However, consuming too much fruits can spell trouble for overweight people, those suffering from diabetes or high cholesterol. Excessive fructose consumption can increase triglycerides (a type of blood fat known to be associated to heart disease) and can rise blood glucose levels in diabetes.
Why fruits can cause weight gain rather than weight loss? Fruit contains fruit sugar (fructose) which does not provide a feeling of fullness for long. When you consume sugar, your body releases a hormone called insulin that signals your brain that you have had enough to eat. But, fructose does not stimulate a significant insulin response to the same degree. That is why you find yourself munching through a whole huge bunch of grapes (500g gives you nearly 8 teaspoons fruit sugar) mindlessly and guiltlessly, thinking that fruits will keep your waistline trim but you're actually consuming more calories than you realize.
Remember, eating too much of anything will cause weight gain. You will only lose weight if you burn more calories than you consume.
Instead of going on an all-
To use fruits as your weight loss tool, you can consume fruits with a low glycemic (GI) index to keep your stomach feeling full longer to avoid unnecessary snacking and also satisfy your sugar cravings without adding too much calories.
Most fruits are virtually fat-
Some fruits like bananas, pears and strawberries become a richer source of fructose as they ripen and some of the starch is converted to sugar so be very careful not to consume them in unlimited quantities.
I would also suggest you stay away from dried fruits such as raisins, dates and figs, as they usually have more natural sugars and more calories, and will not fill you up as much as fresh fruits, which are higher in water content.
This list of best fruits for weight loss proved to be very helpful to most of my friends and I hope they will also do the same for you in your weight loss journey.
