A gallon of fresh paint will give any room an instant facelift. Walls, furniture, tiles, glass, rugs and even floors can be painted to change the mood, create a new accent or simply give anything an instant spring cleaned “pop”. It is usually expensive to have someone do for you what you can do yourself so roll up your sleeves, put on your decorating overalls and tackle a DIY paint project. Also, check out the “Oops” paint from Home Depot. It’s a frugal way to improve your surroundings with other people’s leftover paints at a bargain price.

Framed pictures of family and friends are a quick and easy way to jazz up your home. Pick up a variety of frames at garage sales to showcase memorabilia, photos, paintings and other special family memories. Larger frames can be out on the wall while smaller ones standing on the table can greatly add liveliness to a room. You may also want to have a couple of photos printed in black and white. However, keep in mind that mirrors reflect light so these home decorating ideas will be less effective in homes that are painted with dark colors.
A speedy way to accent and invigorate your home on the cheap is candles. Richly scented candles in different shapes and colors not only beautify rooms but will also provide a soothing and flattering glow. Consider incorporating scented pillar candles into your home decor as they are incredibly cheap, readily available and help perk you up after a stressful day at work. Try lavender, geranium and rose scented candles.
