Does Emu Oil Work for Acne Scars and Stretch Marks?
I have these ugly red and white stretch marks on my inner thighs, and acne scars
on my face. I heard that emu oil can actually help improve skin condition. Can you
tell me if this it true? Is emu oil good for acne scars and stretch marks? Does emu
oil really work? – Carrie, LA.
As far as I'm concerned, pure emu oil works pretty well to fade stretch marks on
my boobs that were formed a year ago when I got pregnant. After using the oil every
single day for about 2-3 months, my stretch marks turned lighter and some of them
have become less noticeable. I heard some friends raving about emu oil for acne and
scars, so you might want to try it out and see if it helps.
Why Emu Oil Is Good for Skin
Emu oil works better than other natural oils (such as Vitamin E, tea tree oil, jojoba
oil, or evening primrose oil) and benefit acne skin for many reasons:
Emu oil is one of the best natural anti-inflammatory oil to treat acne, and get rid
of pimples naturally. This is because emu oil is non comedogenic (does not clog pores),
hypo-allergenic (non-irritating), and antibacterial. Regular use of emu oil on your
face will help reduce the amount of oil your face produces, and fight bacteria that
causes pimples and acne breakouts.
In addition, emu oil contains high levels of oleic acid, which is a skin-cell generator.
It will help reduce redness, swelling and inflammation from acne as well as repairing
damaged skin. It also heals and helps prevent acne scars.
Emu oil is non greasy and is highly penetrating. In fact, emu oil does not contain
phospholipids, allowing emu oil to absorb through the skin more easily. Your skin
feels softer, smoother and look younger. Another good thing about emu oil is it absorbs
very quickly into the skin and doesn't feel greasy at all.
How to Use Emu Oil for Skin
To use emu oil for stretch marks, gently massage 2-3 drops pure emu oil on your skin
in circular motions. Do this after a shower or a bath since moist skin absorbs oil
better. Repeat twice daily.
You may also want to use emu bath oil, once a week, to heal stretch marks. Add a
few drops emu oil into water and soak yourself in the bath for 10 minutes. It is
also a great way to relax sore, tired muscles and stiff joints.
Emu oil is a completely safe, 100% natural emollient and moisturizer that is suitable
for use all over the body, including your nails and hair. Although emu oil is hypo-allergenic,
it is wise to try a patch test to see if you are allergic to emu oil.
Also, be aware that not all emu oil is the same. Some emu oil processing destroys
its active healing enzymes. You want to be cautious when opting for less expensive
low quality emu oil. Emu oil has a shelf life of about 3 years. Once opened, keep
it refrigerated so it will stay fresh.
