Sugar cookies are the snack to trump all other Easter cookies. These melt-
You can even make sugar cookies for any occasion – Valentine's Day or Christmas – using different cookie cutters. Sugar cookies, plain or decorated, make stylish yet affordable gifts for family and friends too.
Ingredients
¾ cup butter, softened
¾ cup white sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ teaspoon almond extract
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
3 to 5 drops food coloring (pink, green, blue or yellow)
In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg. Add vanilla extract, almond extract and food coloring.
Stir remaining ingredients gradually into the batter. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour or until easy to handle.

To decorate sugar cookies, mix 1 egg yolk and ¼ teaspoon water. Divide egg mixture among several custard cups. Tint each with different food color to make bright colors. If "paint" thickens, dilute with a few drops of water.
Using small paint brushes, paint designs on sugar cookies. You can also use chocolate mints on top.
Thread lengths of coloring ribbon (between 6 to 8 inches) through holes and tie ends in a bow. Hang sugar cookies on an Easter tree if desired.
