Easy Chinese Shrimp Recipes – Quick Prawn Stir Fry

A quick and easy prawn stir-fry that's light and healthy. The fresh vegetables bring colors while adding substance and interesting textures to this simple Chinese dish. The mild seasonings accentuate the freshness of the shrimps.

Quick Prawn Stir Fry Recipe

(serves 4)

 

Ingredients:

1 tablespoon sesame oil

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon fresh ginger root, minced

1 pound fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined

3 ounces bamboo shoots, cut into thin strips

4 large button mushrooms, quartered

1 green bell pepper, cut into small pieces

1 medium carrot, peeled and cut into small pieces

salt and white pepper, to taste

 

How to cook prawn stir-fry

1. Place sesame oil in a wok; heat over medium-high heat.

 

2. Add garlic and ginger. Fry until fragrant and golden brown. This should take about 30 seconds.

 

3. Add shrimps, and stir-fry until just pink, about 45 seconds. Don't overcook them or they'll end up tough and chewy.

 

4. Reduce heat to medium, and add all the vegetables. Stir-fry for about 3 minutes or until tender.

 

5. Add seasonings, and then turn off heat.

 

6. Serve stir-fried prawns immediately with steamed jasmine rice.
