No matter what diet you try, you just can't seem to lose weight at all. If it sounds like you, then I have some good news – foods that are scientifically proven to raise metabolism naturally and help you burn excess body fat.
We all know that in order to lose weight, you need to burn more calories than you eat or reduce calorie intake. However, many dieters often eat too few calories that they crashed their metabolism. The reality is you must eat enough to burn fat.
Having said that, some foods are however better for metabolism boosting and calories burning. Foods which raise metabolism are usually those that are high in fiber and low in calories.
Some people call such foods "nutrient dense foods", "whole foods" or even "negative calories" foods. High fiber foods make you feel full longer because it takes longer to digest them. Prolonged digesting process also means more calories are being burned. Take celery for an example, it has very little calories that you actually burn more munching it than you gain weight from digesting it.
Broccoli is one veggie to eat if you want to increase metabolism naturally. It is not only low in calories, high in calcium and dietary fiber, it also has good amounts of Vitamins A and C.
If you've problems with water weight due to fluid retention and bloating, then eat lettuce. Being rich in iron and magnesium, lettuce helps to boost metabolism and dissolve fat. Cabbage, carrots, and asparagus are also on the list of foods that raise metabolism.
What about fruits that are metabolism boosters? Fruits high in Vitamin C, such as lemons and oranges, are known as metabolism boosting foods. Grapefruits are loaded with over 15 grams of pectin, which helps curb your appetite by expanding in the body and making you feel full longer. It is also rich in natural galacturonic acid, which adds to the potential to fight fat and cholesterol.
Apples are also good to increase metabolism. Rich in fibers, apples keep your blood sugar level constant so you feel full for a longer period of time and avoid overeating. Natural chemicals in apples can also control fat absorption and help you release excess body fat.
Additionally, all kinds of berry fruit – strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, black and red currants – are known to raise your metabolism and make you burn more fat. British researchers found that the high content of insoluble fiber, found in most berries and vegetables, reduces the absorption of calories from foods enough to promote weight loss. Berries are also an excellent source of potassium which is effective for your blood pressure control.
Protein foods are also metabolism boosters since it takes a lot of energy for your body to digest them and that in turn raises metabolism and burns excess body fat. Remember, protein are necessary for muscle building and the more muscle mass you have, the higher your metabolism. However, eat only lean meats such as turkey, chicken or fish.
Omega 3 fatty acids, found in salmon, mackerel, tuna and other fatty fish, can increase the metabolic rate, rid the body of excess fluids and increase energy levels.
Cayenne pepper not only stimulates the body's metabolic rate, but also cleans fat out of the arteries and suppress your appetite. Salsa, hot pepper, chilies, mustard and garlic are also worth mentioning when we talk about metabolism boosting foods.
As you can see, by eating some of these metabolism boosting foods in your daily diet, along with a regular exercise program, you can raise metabolism and lose excess fat more quickly.
