Hemorrhoids (Piles) – Natural Remedies for Fast Relief
By Diane Hanson
If you suffer from swollen and irritated hemorrhoids (also known as piles), you probably
know that this painful condition is no walk in the park.
Hemorrhoids are a swelling of veins in and around the anus. These veins can become
overstretched that they push with extreme force, then rupture and cause rectal bleeding,
inflammation and itch. Hemorrhoids (internal, external or prolapsed) affects millions
of people across the world, and like them, you want to get rid of hemorrhoids forever.
Knowing some of the easiest home remedies can greatly reduce the discomfort and aggravation
associated with hemorrhoids, and provide much needed relief.
Natural Home Cures for Piles
The most important lesson in hemorrhoids home treatment is to learn proper hygiene.
By using the correct cleaning technique on your swollen hemorrhoids, you avoid pain
when making a bowel movement.
If your hemorrhoids are swollen or bleeding, avoid using paper toilet paper since
the friction created when wiping back and forth, and the dyes which toilet paper
manufacturers use can irritate hemorrhoids even more.
You should clean with warm water but avoid soap as it’s an irritant or use one that
won’t irritate skin. Alternatively, clean gently with a non scented baby wipe. Scrubbing
the affected area can result in tearing and bleeding.
Hemorrhoids are often caused by straining during a bowel movement so aim for easy,
soft movements by adding more fiber and water to your diet. Have 25 to 35 grams of
fiber and drink 8 to 10 glasses of water daily.
It’s no secret that hemorrhoids can cause unbearable itch. To reduce itching, you
need to lower your acid pH balance in your stool. You can achieve this by avoiding
certain high acid foods and drinks such as sodas, citrus fruits as well as caffeine.
Cutting out coffee can be one of the home remedies for hemorrhoids since coffee lowers
your anal sphincter pressure, and heightens your anal skin sensitivity.
If the itch is too much to tolerate, put a small amount of baking soda (dry or wet
as a paste) on your hemorrhoids for fast relief.
Another effective home treatment to get rid of piles is to apply place witch hazel
on a clean cotton ball and press it gently against your hemorrhoids, thrice a day.
Witch hazel soothes hemorrhoids and shrinks swollen veins.
You might also want to purchase hemorrhoids medication, suppositories and hydrocortisone
creams to address the problem. Over-the-counter treatments such as Preparation H
ointments and creams shrink hemorrhoids, and also contain hydrocortisone to relieve
itching. Apply at least 4 times a day on freshly cleaned area.
If you follow these natural home remedies for hemorrhoids patiently and diligently,
you can be sure that your piles will be gone within a short period of time. Otherwise,
you might want to speak to your doctor how to get rid of hemorrhoids through surgical
