Homemade Papaya Whitening Face Masks

If dull, lackluster skin is making you unhappy these days, heads up. You can bring your skin back to life with natural homemade papaya face masks. Papaya is well known for its skin renewal properties since early times. It can brighten, whiten, lighten and add a luminous glow to dull lifeless complexion.

 

How does papaya help your face? Unripe or green papaya contains natural alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) and papain.

 

Papain is an enzyme that helps exfoliate the superficial layer of dead skin cells to give way to new cells. Thus, your skin appears brighter, fairer and feels baby smooth to touch.

 

Additionally, studies have shown that green papaya extract can inhibit  tyrosinase activity, the key enzyme in the production of melanin. If your body produces too much melanin, your skin gets darker.

Homemade Papaya and Clay Whitening Face Mask

Clay unclogs blocked pores and detoxify skin while aloe vera is useful for replenishing lost moisture.

The ingredients are 4 teaspoons cosmetic clay, 1½ teaspoon aloe vera gel, ½ cup papaya pulp.

 

1. Place all ingredients in a mixing bowl. Make a fine paste by mixing them thoroughly.

 

2. Apply papaya face mask on your clean face and neck, avoiding the eyes and lips. Leave it on for 15 minutes. Rinse off completely with lukewarm water.

 

Good for normal, combination or oily skin.

 

 

Papaya and Yogurt Brightening Facial Mask

The lactic acid and enzymes found in yogurt will soften, hydrate, and nourish your skin, while its antibacterial and anti-fungal properties provide gentle cleansing.

Being rich in Vitamin C and antioxidants, lemon helps stimulate collagen production.

Honey is a natural antioxidant, anti-microbial, anti-irritant, and humectant. It removes impurities from the pores and helps your skin to rejuvenate itself.

Egg white is an excellent ingredient to tighten pores and tone skin naturally.

The ingredients are ½ cup papaya pulp, 2 tablespoons plain yogurt, 2-3 tablespoons lemon, 1 tablespoon honey, and 1 egg white.

 

1. Place papaya in a food processor or use mortar and pestle to grind it into a pulp. Transfer to a mixing bowl.

 

2. Add yogurt, lemon juice, honey, egg white.

 

3. Mix all ingredients well. You should get a fluffy but not runny consistency.

 

4. Apply the homemade facial mask to you clean face and leave on for 15 minutes before washing it off with lukewarm water.

Good for normal, dry or sensitive skin.

 

 

Homemade Papaya Milk Lightening Face Pack

Milk lightens, brightens and tones skin complexion while minimizing blemishes and dark spots with its lactic acid.

Rose water helps moisturize and soften dry skin, as well as balancing the pH levels.

The ingredients you need are ½ cup papaya pulp, ½ teaspoon raw milk, ½ teaspoon honey and ½ teaspoon rose water.

 

1. Place all ingredients in a bowl, and well mix.

 

2. Apply homemade face pack over your face and neck. Leave it on to work for 10-15 minutes.

 

3. Rinse off with lukewarm water.

 

Good for normal, dry or sensitive skin.

 

 

* Papayas contain an ingredient called chitinase, which can cause an allergic reaction in people who have a latex allergy. If you suspect a a latex-fruit allergy but want to use any of the above homemade papaya face mask recipes, apply the facial mask to a small area of the face and wait 24 hours. If you show no redness or swelling, it is safe to use the papaya facial mask.

It’s always nice to have large rolls of money for the latest age-defying potions and high-tech beauty treatments, but if you are looking for frugal alternatives, I highly recommend these at-home fruit facials.

 

1 super ripe banana (mashed), a bit of manuka honey and a few drops of fresh orange juice. Suitable for those with oily or greasy skin as it helps absorb excess oil and remove shine from the face.

 

½ of a ripe avocado, 1 teaspoon of plain yogurt and 2 teaspoons of raw unfiltered organic honey. Used it once a week and dry flaky skin will instantly take on a new vitality.

 

½ cup fresh strawberries (stems removed, cut in half and blend until smooth) and 1 tablespoon sour cream. Promotes surface cell turnover and bring a rosy radiance to tired, stressed skin.
