There's nothing that will make you feel like a kid again than slurping up rainbow snow cones on a hot summer. Snow cones or sno balls (in New Orleans) are essentially shaved ice topped with a brightly colored sweet syrup such as cherry, blueberry, lime, orange, grape or root beer.
These cool treats can be made at home, without a snow cone maker. Ice can be crushed
or shaved using a blender. The snow cones syrup is very simple to make, I've posted

So gather the kids and make homemade snow cones together. It's a super fun way to enjoy one of the world's most treasured secrets for cooling off on hot sunny days!
Ingredients:
2 cups sugar
¾ cup water
1 package unsweetened Kool-
How to make homemade snow cone syrup:
1. Combine sugar and water in a medium saucepan.
Bring to a boil.
2. Remove saucepan from heat and stir in the Kool-
3. Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature before you chill it in the refrigerator until chilled.
4. To serve, pour over crushed iced. Here's a trick to help eliminate sticky drips, place a mini marshmallow inside at the tip before adding the ice.
1. Mix 1 cup water with 2 cups white sugar (use equal parts sugar and water, if you want the syrup to be less sweet ) in a saucepan.
2. Bring to a boil over medium-

4. Add food coloring or flavoring of your choice to the saucepan. Alternatively, divide the syrup into bottles and then flavor each bottle with your favorite combination of flavoring and food color.
For example, green food coloring for peppermint, strawberry with red food coloring, coconut with blue food coloring, orange food coloring for orange flavor or lemon with yellow food coloring.
5. Mix well to combine. Store syrup in the refrigerator.
