Diarrhea occurs when stools become loose and watery or unformed. The symptoms for diarrhea can include vomiting, stomach pain, consistent thirst, fever, nausea or even dehydration.
Natural home remedies for diarrhea are preferred to mainstream medicine because the latter is generally intended to treat the symptoms and not the underlying cause. If the cause of diarrhea is not removed, treatment of the symptoms will have only a temporary effect.
There are several effective herbal remedies to cure diarrhea and they actually work
better than over-
1. You can treat diarrhea with rice water.
Place a small of rice and water in a small saucepan, and boil. As soon as the water turns white, remove form heat. Strain the water through a sieve and drink the liquid. This helps to relieve the symptoms at once.
2. Another way to stop diarrhea naturally is to use ginger.
Place a teaspoon of ginger powder and sugar in a cup of hot water. Mix well and drink. You will need to keep stirring as you drink or the ginger will stick to the bottom of your cup. This home remedy is really effective.
Alternatively, use this natural home remedy to cure diarrhea. Place a tablespoon
of flour, one teaspoon of nutmeg and a tablespoon of sugar in a glass, half-
Nutmeg is great for soothing your stomach while the flour acts as a thickener for diarrhea and the sugar sweetens the taste.
3. In conjunction with the above home remedies to cure diarrhea, it is advised that you choose your foods carefully.
Make sure to avoid fiber-
Also, stay away from alcohol and caffeine, both of which will exacerbate diarrhea.
4. It is also important that you drink a lot of water to replace all the fluids that diarrhea takes out of you. Doctors recommend drinking as much as you can, at least eight to twelve glasses of water daily.
Some people prefer sports drinks since such drinks contain electrolytes that you need to stay healthy. Alternatively, you may want to purchase flavored electrolyte solution at your local pharmacy.
