14 Ways to Drink More Water Everyday

By Diane Hanson

I don't have to tell you this – if you want to lose weight, drink more water. Drinking water is an old trick every dieter could use to curb hunger. But, many of us do not drink enough water until we're almost completely dehydrated. It's too easy to forget to drink water.

Here’s a list of really good water-drinking tips that worked well for me and I trust you'll find them useful too.

Make Yourself Drink More Water

In the morning, upon waking up, hydrate your body with a glass of water.

Start your day with a bowl of cereal with milk. Did you know that a higher intake of calcium, particularly from low-fat sources, helps prevent fat storage?

Keep a filled water bottle by your side at work, in your backpack or in the car.

If mid-afternoon slump hits you and you feel really sleepy, grab a glass of water.

Never pass a water cooler without stopping for a quick sip.

Make it a habit to drink a tall glass of water before and after each meal.

Eat more foods cooked in water such as pasta, rice, stews and soups.

Eat fruits and vegetables with high-water content. My personal favorites, watermelons, oranges, celery and tomatoes.

When you drink fruit juices, dilute with water - you shave calories!

When you have sudden craving for junk foods, tame it down with a glass of water. You feel full immediately with zero calories.

To add flavor, drop lemon or orange slices into your pitcher of water. There's nothing snobbish about it, it makes plain water more pleasant so that you'll get used to drinking water more often.

After your trip to the bathroom, replenish your system with a glass of water.

Sip water while watching TV instead of snacking on chips.

Have a cup of hot water when you're in a mood of tea or coffee. These beverages contain caffeine, which is a diuretic and makes you want to go to the bathroom even more.

So, there you go, if you want to shrink a size and have radiant skin, say cheers to water!
