Blackheads, also known as open comedones, are a type of acne which occur most frequently in the face and shoulder area. There are several effective ways to get rid of blackheads naturally at home without medical intervention. They include cleaning affected areas, applying clay masks and exfoliants, controlling diet and using natural home remedies.
Blackheads are closed follicles containing keratin and other secretions of the sweat gland. After oxidization, these accumulated materials turn yellowish black. Blackheads are similar to whiteheads, except that in the latter case there is a minute opening and the accumulated materials remain white due to absence of oxidization.
A very popular blackhead removal home remedy is to use a clay mask on a daily basis. The clay mask absorbs excessive oils from the blacked skin pores and helps in reducing blackheads.
Apply the clay mask on affected area and leave to dry for about 20 minutes. Then rinse off completely with lukewarm water and pat skin dry.
Using exfoliants or scrubs is also effective for blackhead removal. Scrubs are great for getting rid of the dead cells that are clogging the skin pores.
Do not use pore strips to remove blackheads on nose, it is better you go for regular facials instead. Using pore strips to remove blackheads is not recommended for many reasons.
Some reasons include repeated use of pore strips can cause irritation and future breakouts. The adhesive on the pore strips can tear or injure your skin, especially if you are using an acne medication, or if you naturally have thin skin due to psoriasis, rosacea, or seborrhea.
The most effective way to get rid of blackheads on chin or any other body parts is to prevent the cause. Since oily skin is the primary factor for causing blackheads, it is important that you to wash your face regularly with a mild cleanser. You can wash and clean the affected areas as soon as your skin feels greasy.
Applying too much makeup on the face can exacerbate blackheads and whiteheads development, especially if you have oily skin. Be aware that poor quality makeup will worsen your condition. Therefore, go bare face or apply makeup minimally.
The next best way to get rid of blackheads is to exposed the face or the affected areas to a bowl of hot steam. Add a few drops of tree tea oil in the hot water and take steam for about 5 minutes. This helps to open up the clogged pores and treat blackheads.
However, do not squeeze and remove blackheads since doing so may result in swelling and redness.
Along with proper skin care and hygiene, it is also important to get rid of blackheads permanently through healthy eating. Some foods, particularly processed food that has refined carbohydrates and fats, enhance sebum production and secretion. Hence, making blackheads worse.
You should drink plenty of water to keep skin hydrated and dewy. Also, lots of Vitamin-
You may want to try these other natural home remedies to get rid of blackheads:
Cut a lemon into half and squeeze the juice onto the blackheads. The acidic property of lemon juice helps in reducing excess oils and preventing bacterial infections. Leave for 30 minutes and wash off completely with cold water.
Another blackhead removal method is to apply a paste of baking soda and water over the blackheads. Allow the paste to stay and dry naturally for 20 minutes and then wash off thoroughly with cool water. It is also good to wipe your affected skin with witch hazel extract to get rid of blackheads.
