How to Make Nail Polish Dry Faster

I'll be the first to admit when it comes to spending time on my nails, I get very impatient. I hate to wait for nail varnish to dry, and get consumed thinking about all the stuff I could be doing instead. You can forget about those fast dry nail polishes. Why? They often fail to live up to their quick-drying claims. Instead, make nail polish dry faster with these shockingly quick nail-drying tips.

Ways to Make Nails Dry Quickly

1. When you apply nail polish, you usually need 2 coatings to get an even color.

However, some women tend to apply layers that are just too thick. If each coat is too thick, it'll take a long time to dry.

You want thin, but even coatings. Remove excessive nail polish from the brush by brushing it lightly over the top of the bottle, before applying on your nails. That way, your nail polish dry faster than you expect.

2. You probably also apply a clear polish on your colored polish to prevent chipping and added shine. The problem is, extra coats on your nail add more drying time.

It’s a good idea to put on a top coat using a quick-drying clear polish, available in drug stores and beauty supply shops, locally or online. Quick-drying clear polish contains mineral oil and hardens quickly, protecting your nails from smudges.

3. Another useful product that can dry nails quickly is the fast-drying nail spray. Simply hold the aerosol-like spray 12 inches away from your nails, and spray lightly. Your nails dry in a flash, and is easy to use.

4. You can also dry nail polish quickly using an electric or battery-operated fan. Just point your nails in front of the fan, allowing the cool air to blow on them. Wait until the coatings harden. However, this method takes slightly longer than the others.

5. Alternatively, use a blow dryer to make nails dry faster. Make sure to use only the coolest setting, and be careful not to smudge your nails when you hold the blow dryer.

6. Believe it or not, ice water can help your nail varnish dry quicker. Let your nails run under some cold tap water for a couple of minutes. Or, dip them in a bowl of ice cold water.

Additionally, less hand movement also helps in drying nail varnish faster. So sit back and relax, and don't touch anything. Your nail polish will dry faster than you think.
