Smoking is a harmful and addictive habit that claims millions of lives every year. In fact, WHO estimates that smoking cigarettes kills one person every 10 seconds. Quitting smoking is difficult but not impossible. You need self control and strong willpower to stop smoking. And, when willpower is not enough, you should know the various ways that are available to help you quit smoking for good.
Nicotine Substitutes
One of the more popular methods to stop smoking is to take advantage of nicotine alternatives such as nicotine patches, gum and lozenges. Nicotine substitutes have been used to help smokers stop smoking for years. By releasing a small dose of nicotine into your body, they subside the many withdrawal symptoms when quitting smoking or tobacco.
Although nicotine substitutes are safe for most people who are trying to stop smoking, you should use them under a doctor’s supervision. He will recommend other smoking cessation methods if he feels there are risks involved.
Hypnotherapy
Hypnotism to stop smoking proves effective for many smokers and the success rates are possibly double that of nicotine patches and gum. Hypnosis for smoking works by reducing stress and also guide you using specific images and words to help a smoker quit smoking.

Having said the above, many people take a lot of time to quit smoking. You should also give yourself adequate time to manage your cravings and stop smoking for good. If you can't do it alone, join a support group in your local community. You just have to believe that you can do it. Good luck!
