1. Use Repetition.
Repeating to yourself the things you want to remember may sound simple, but this
trick really works like a charm.
For example, repeat a phone number 3-4 times to help you remember it for a short
while. Even if you're a visual learner, reading out loud what you want to remember
goes a long way in memory management. It works even better if you involve all of
your senses to help improve memory. Try to associate information with colors, textures,
smells and tastes.
2. Write It Down.
Simply writing the information down will help you imprint something in your mind
and retain it.
3. Refresh Your Mind.
Relax and clear your mind of all the other things going on in there. Take deep, slow
breaths through your nose, and focus what you're trying to remember. If you concentrate
on the information that you want to remember, you'll be more likely to recall it

some good proteins and complex carbohydrates. Be sure to eat fruits, vegetables,

5. Drink Enough Fluids.
Dehydration can get in the way of clear thinking and impact memory. Make sure you
drink enough water, and avoid too much alcohol. Excessive alcohol consumption can
lead to confusion and memory loss.
Physical activity increases blood flow (and therefore oxygen to the brain) to your
whole body, and has been shown to improve brain function.
Exercise also reduces stress. High levels of cortisol, the stress hormone, can damage
the hippocampus if stress is not relieved.
7. Avoid Toxins.
Smoking increases the risk of vascular disorders that can cause stroke and constrict
arteries that deliver oxygen to the brain, leading to impaired brain function.
Be aware that taking certain prescription and over-the-counter drugs, such as antidepressants,
anti anxiety drugs, antispasmodics, beta-blockers, chemotherapy, Parkinson's medications,
sleeping pills, ulcer medications, painkillers, antihistamines, and even statins
can affect your memory.
8. Learn a Mnemonic Technique.
Mnemonics are clues of any kind – a visual image, a sentence, or a word – that help
you remember something.
For example, if you're trying to remember Mike's name, visualize a microphone or
think of a cat for a woman named Catherine.

Keeping your memory sharp can be fun with Nintendo, puzzles or brain games. These
games are designed to help improve memory, enhance concentration and get your memory
