Valentine's day isn’t just for lovers only, it can be a very fun day for young kids too. Children can make their own Valentine's day gifts for parents and other adults who're special to them. I've 3 very easy valentine craft ideas that kids can quickly make with just a few common household items. Your kids are going to have lots of fun making them, and it's definitely a delight for the person who's receiving it.
1. Valentines Flowers:
Valentine's day wouldn't be complete without flowers and kids can make a pretty bouquet of roses using tissue paper.
You'll need pastel colored tissue paper, chenille stem, scissors and a ruler .
Here's how to make: First, cut the tissue paper into rectangles of desired size (5x7" is a good size to start with). Next, stack about 4 pieces of tissue paper together. You can use the same color or different colors. Then, accordion pleat the tissue paper working from the long side.
Once you are done with that, wind one end of the chenille stem around the middle of the pleated tissue paper. Gently separate each layer pulling upwards toward the middle of the flower.
Repeat the steps again and make as many flowers you want. Let your children put all the flowers in a basket or tie them together with a big bow.
2. Heart Shaped Cards:
Cards and flowers go together and these heart shaped cards are really cute. You'll need a piece of red or pink construction paper, stickers and glitter.
Here's what you do: Fold the construction paper in half, down the middle. Draw half a heart on one side.
Then carefully cut out the heart but make sure not to cut the fold. Now, decorate the heart with little hearts, stickers, red or pink glitter.
And, don't forget to help your kids write a special message inside!
3. Valentine Pencil Toppers:
These Valentine's Day pencil toppers are an easy craft idea for kids and they can make them quickly and give one to every member in the family!
You'll need craft foam hearts ( red, pink and white), fabric glue, small heart craft punch and glitters.
Here's how to make: Take a large foam heart and punch out a heart on either side. Next, decorate it with glitter and smaller foam hearts.
Leave to dry before giving them to your children. Thread a pencil through the cut out hearts.
These homemade gifts are a wonderful way for children to express their love to those special in their lives, and to see the joy that their gift brings to others. There's nothing more special than a Valentine gift that is made with love.
