I love the sweet citrus fragrance of lemon grass in Tom Yum soup, but I didn't know of its analgesic properties until I mentioned a nagging lower back pain to a Thai friend.
She said that to relieve back pain, boil four handfuls of lemon grass leaves in 4 cups water for 5 minutes. Add to a bathtub of lukewarm water, and soak yourself in it. True enough, the herbal bath worked wonders and I felt a lot better the next morning.
My experience got me interested in discovering more about the health benefits and healing properties of lemongrass, and how to use it to make herbal home remedies.

Lemongrass is generally safe for use in moderation, but young children, pregnant women, and people with kidney or liver disease should avoid the herb.
