Low Fat Tuna Sandwich

By Kate Miller

When you want a quick and light lunch, you probably think of salads and tuna sandwiches. Yes, a tuna sandwich can be prepared easily in a flash and full of goodness but not when it's dripping in mayonnaise. Tuna has only 35 calories per ounce and a great source of omega-3 fats but if you slap a tablespoon of mayo to it, that's another 100 calories! You might as well grab a burger!

Here's how to slim down your regular tuna sandwich into a heart-and-figure-friendly lunch. It's creamy and tasty without the evil mayo. And, for a low carb option, skip the bread and serve on sliced lettuce as salad.

Low Fat Tuna Sandwich Recipe

Ingredients:

1 can tuna in water, drained

¼ cup low fat yogurt

1 teaspoon mustard

freshly ground pepper, to taste

½ cup chopped celery

½ cup chopped apple

2 tablespoons red onion

1 tomato, sliced

multi grain bread slices or French baguette, lightly toasted
