When I first introduced my kids to the world of cooking, the first thing on my mind was to start with a recipe as simple as possible and obviously pick one that they would enjoy eating.
These milkshake recipes are great for kids as they are super easy and fun to make. Besides, they are full of calcium, necessary for healthy development of bones and teeth in growing kids. These milkshakes are so delicious that even adults love it too. But of course, use low fat milk and ice cream if you are watching the scales!
Ingredients:
2 glasses of milk
2 tablespoon orange squash
2 tablespoon of vanilla ice cream
2 slices of orange or lemon garnish
How to make:
Get your kid to pour out 2 glasses of cold milk. It is wise to use plastic materials throughout the process to prevent breakage and injuries.
Scoop out 2 tablespoon of ice cream and mix with orange squash.
Holding their small hands, guide them slowly to whisk the mixture for a few minutes.
Then pour into their favourite glass and garnish with orange or lemon slices.
Variations:
Lemon Milkshake – in place of orange squash, use lemon squash.
Pineapple Milkshake – add 2 tablespoonfuls of crushed pineapple and enough syrup.
Ingredients:
2 cups of milk
2 ripe bananas
½ lemon, juiced
2 tablespoon of sugar
How to make milkshhakes:
Get your kid to mash bananas with a plastic fork and add lemon juice to it. You may want to juice the lemon as young kids may not have the strength to fully squeeze it out.
Mix the milk and sugar together. Stir well until the sugar dissolved.
Pour into an ice tray and freeze.
This recipe teaches your kids about patience as they wait eagerly for the sherbet to set.
