6 No-Botox Ways to Reduce Forehead Wrinkles and Frown Lines
The good news is you're on the right track by applying sunscreen on exposed body
areas every single day. The bad news is wrinkles, forehead furrows, frown lines,
and fines lines on facial skin are an inevitable part of the natural aging process
that no one can stop. However, some people are lucky enough to age well naturally
and get away with premature aging of the skin, which is caused by free radicals such
as sun exposure, stress and environmental pollution.
As your skin gets older, you start to lose collagen and elastin proteins which help
to keep skin firm and taut. In addition, your skin also loses its ability to retain
moisture and starts to sag, resulting in wrinkles and fine lines on forehead, eyes,
mouth, lips, neck and chest.
Horizontal lines across the forehead and fine lines around the mouth are a common
complaint amongst men and women as they age, and are a result of the repetitive facial
expressions (crease our eyebrows, squint our eyes, and other excessive facial muscle
actions) we make throughout our lives.
Here are a number of things that can help minimize the appearance of premature forehead
wrinkles and fine lines around the mouth without resorting to botox injections or
fillers. Please note, these alternatives are not going to make those troublesome
frown lines magically disappear overnight but they will help your forehead lines
What Can You Do to Help Smooth Premature Wrinkles and Fine Lines Naturally Without
1. One of the cheapest ways to get younger-looking facial skin and reduce wrinkle
naturally is to firm and tone your facial muscles using facial exercises or facial
yoga. These exercises, when done correctly and regularly, help tighten and strengthen
the various muscles of your face, which will really minimize wrinkles and lift up
saggy facial skin.
To reduce forehead wrinkles, lower your eyebrows while pulling them together, then
lift them as high as possible and as far apart as you can. For best results, repeat
3 or more times, several times a day, every single day.
2. Water is your best friend when it comes to preventing fine lines and wrinkles.
If you don't consume sufficient fluids, it shows on your skin – dry, dehydrated and
more prone to premature wrinkling.
Drinking plenty of water will instantly plumps up fine lines, leaving your skin firm
and well hydrated. Aim for 8-10 glasses of water daily. Interestingly, a study done
by researchers from Leeds University showed a particular brand of mineral water (Deeside
Water) can significantly reduce wrinkles 25% more than tap water.
Don't forget to also include a wide variety of water rich foods such as fresh fruits
and vegetables in your diet. Think watermelon, berries, chard, lettuce, cucumber,
tomato and pumpkin. Pumpkin is a good source of beta-carotene, an antioxidant that
helps prevent free radical damage. It also contains significant amount of Vitamin
E, one of the key vitamins required to keep your skin healthy, youthful and wrinkle
3. I'm a huge fan of Frownies pads, which are small adhesive patches that will help
reduce wrinkles and frown lines. Simply wear them around your mouth and forehead
while you sleep to gently train your skin muscles to relax and prevent sagging. Frownies
pads are made from natural ingredients that will help stop forehead lines from deepening.
You should see results in 2-4 weeks.
Frownies facial pads are very inexpensive, and you can find them at most major retailers
and online. I suggest you go to their website to get an idea how the facial pads
work or what you can expect from it. One word, the adhesive might irritate sensitive
4. While applying a high quality anti-aging face cream can prevent forehead wrinkles
and frown lines from getting worse, anti wrinkle creams are not permanent wrinkle
removers. Most of these anti-aging skincare products contain ingredients that either
help remove the outer most layers of dead skin, or hydrate and plump up skin, thereby
reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on face.
Choosing anti-wrinkle face creams can be really tricky. I usually opt for products
that has Vitamin C, retinols or alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs). Alpha hydroxy acids have
been shown to boost collagen production and improve wrinkles, roughness, and pigmentation
of photodamaged skin when used daily for a long period of time.
Also, get into the habit of scrubbing your skin on a regular basis because exfoliation
smooths the skin surface and helps with product absorption. Using a natural exfoliating
product, gently scrub your face in circular movements with your fingers, paying special
attention to your forehead lines. Wash off completely and moisturize your forehead
with anti-wrinkle cream while your skin is still damp to help lock in moisture.
5. A not-so-cheap but very impressive option is to resurface your skin and improve
forehead wrinkles and fine lines with a chemical peel or dermabrasion.
Alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), trichloroacetic acids (TCAs) or phenols are used in a
chemical peel procedure to remove the top outermost layer of the skin, revealing
fresher, younger and smoother skin.
Dermabrasion, on the other hand, is a procedure that uses a controlled surgical scraping
to remove the skin layer. Both procedures help forehead wrinkles appear less visible.
6. You can also talk to your doctor/dermatologist and find out more about prescription
products – retinoids such as Renova and Tazorac – to tackle forehead wrinkles problem.
Retinoids are substances, derived from Vitamin A, that may help reduce fine lines
and wrinkle, and can be also used to smooth skin and treat discoloration on photoaged

I'm 24 years old and just had my first baby 4 months ago. Lately I've noticed some
horizontal wrinkles on my forehead and fine lines around my mouth when I smile. I
think the prematureforehead wrinkles and frown lines showed up because of too much
unprotected sun exposure in my early teen years. Now that I'm much more educated
about the dangers of sun exposure, I try to stay out of the sun as much as possible
and wear sunscreen on my face, neck and arms everyday, even in winter. I'm just wondering
if it's possible to remove wrinkles without surgery? I'm not ready to do botox injections
or dermafillers, so I'd love to hear other inexpensive options available to get rid
of wrinkles and fine lines on face naturally. Thanks in advance. – Miriam, North
