Most of us give in to convenience easily – it's like those DVDs days many many years ago. With its advent and invasion into our homes, some people have given the good old cinema a miss entirely. On a similar note, many people today can't find time to get into the kitchen and cook themselves a decent meal.
I don't deny that frozen dinner has its advantages – saves time, requires minimal preparation and prevents overeating, if you eat only one dinner. However, some frozen dinners are unhealthy. Frozen dinners offer poor nutrition as they tend to be highly processed with MSG and additives, and have a high fat/sodium content.
Though I appreciate the convenience of frozen dinners from time to time but I can't imagine myself sustaining on foods transformed in the microwave, from an icy block into something that resembles real food. Take this from me, cooking your own meals need not be a daunting task. If you own a crockpot or a slow cooker, you're on your way to eating healthier for life.
Crock pot cooking is one of the easiest method of cooking. There's no messy clean-
It takes you merely 4 to 5 minutes in the morning to prepare. All you need to do is throw in your ingredients, plug in, turn the crock pot on "low" setting, and leave it for the rest of the day – your dinner's ready by the time you get home. You can buy an average size crock pot at any retail stores for about $30 or get them even cheaper at thrift stores and garage sales.
Here's one easy crockpot recipe to inspire you:
To serve 4 people, you'll need these ingredients:
First, combine flour and paprika in a plastic bag. Drop in beef cubes and give it a shake until you see that the beef cubes are well coated with flour.
Next, pop the beef into the crock pot, reserving the left over flour mixture. And, add onion to the crockpot.
Lastly, combine all the remaining ingredients (except salt) with the reserved flour in a bowl. Pour it over the beef, cover the crock pot with the lid and allow it to cook on "low" setting for 8 to 10 hours or 4 to 5 hours on "high". During the last half hour of cooking, season with salt to taste, and add more paprika, if you desired.
That's what I call real food.....YUM....
