I am a 31 year old woman and I suddenly started getting adult acne out of nowhere, especially on my chin and around my mouth. This is really depressing because I never had pimple breakouts during my teenage years! I am wondering if hormones could be causing this. Also, will a detox or juice fast help clear up and cure my adult acne fast. If so, what juices are the best to drink to get rid of acne? Thank you. – Shelley, Idaho.

Adult acne is a fairly common skin condition that can happen to both men and women who may have never suffered from acne problems when they were younger.
Broadly speaking, hormones are not the primary cause of adult acne but they can be a contributing factor. Some women experience mild to moderate adult acne due to fluctuations in hormone levels associated with menstruation, menopause, pregnancy as well as stopping and starting birth control pills.
In addition to these possible causes of adult acne, stress, insufficient sleep and using the wrong skin care products or makeup on your face can also lead to nasty acne breakouts. Therefore, I strongly advise you find out the root cause of your adult acne and treat it accordingly.
For example, if you are under a lot of stress lately and have a hard time falling
asleep, try some stress-
Doing a detoxifying juice fast is a great way to improve adult acne from the inside. It helps the body rid itself of accumulated toxins and impurities in the blood that may lead to inflammation in the skin, resulting in clogged pores, blackheads, boils, acne, and a host of other skin problems.
Keep in mind that juice fasting is not recommended for certain groups of people including diabetics, pregnant and nursing women.
